1. Juiste simulatie

De bovenstaande score is eigenlijk een respectabele voor Arsenal. Verliezen met 2-1 op Barca in de Champions League voor 16 is niet slecht, en de kans is aanwezig dat de 'Gunners' in de tweede etappe terug kunnen klauwen. Speel die beter, want simuleren is met de dood aan het snijden.

Dat is vooral zo als je team toevallig van huis speelt.

De Sim-modus in Fut 19 komt neer op hulpeloos toekijken terwijl de minuten aanslaan, spelers worden onveranderd in het ziekenhuis opgenomen en die spits kan de spreekwoordelijke staldeur niet raken, ondanks eerder scoren voor de lol. Ondertussen leken de oppositieteams een broodnodige thuisboost te krijgen. Logisch, soms, maar lieve Pep is dat glitch van de dag, waardoor je met sterren bezaaide line-up plotseling als Bradford vervelend speelt.

In 20 vragen we meer controle over gesimuleerde wedstrijden. In staat zijn om op elk gewenst moment in te springen en te spelen (zoals in Madden) zou geweldig zijn, en zou dus in staat zijn om tactieken te tweaken terwijl de wedstrijd aan de gang was. Het feit dat we dat in 2019 nog steeds niet kunnen, is razend.

2. Hands-on training

De minigames vóór de wedstrijd tellen als een ander kenmerk dat langer dan een paar series wordt overschreven door hun Fut-ontvangst. Ze zijn tegenwoordig saai. Er is een gebrek aan diepte aan assistent-managerrapporten over hoe spelers presteren, en het is raar dat we maximaal vijf spelers tegelijk kunnen trainen in plaats van voor de hele ploeg te zorgen. De game doet alsof sterspelers als Neymar, Messi en anderen niet trainen.

Waarom heeft EA bovendien niet de mogelijkheid toegevoegd om de positie van een speler te veranderen? Als je een overrompeling van vleugelspelers hebt en je wilt omscholen om defensiever te spelen op de rug van de vleugel, zou dat mogelijk moeten zijn.
